The Tehreek Tahaffuz Aiyeen-e-Pakistan (TTAP) on Friday strongly denied any differences with the family of jailed Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan, according to The News.
Responding to recent media reports, TTAP spokesman Akhunzada Hussain said the former prime minister’s family has always been held in high regard, adding that the alliance is based on mutual respect, trust, and sincerity.
Hussain said TTAP leaders Mahmood Khan Achakzai and Allama Nasir Abbas hold deep respect for Imran Khan’s family, adding that his sisters—particularly Aleema Khanum—have consistently raised concerns about her brother’s health and called for transparent and timely hearings of his cases.
He noted that in a recent media interaction, Aleema Khan had sharply criticised the party leadership, including the chairman and secretary general, for not doing “enough” regarding PTI’s protest movement and her brother’s health. She also objected to the postponement of a public meeting scheduled for April 9, the date when the PTI government was removed through a no-confidence motion in 2022.

In response, PTI Secretary General Salman Akram Raja rejected her allegations, stating he had never sought any party position and would once again submit his resignation to the incarcerated party leader. He also defended the decision to postpone the public gathering, calling it in the national interest due to the arrival of important delegations from Iran and the United States. He added that the decision, taken by the PTI political committee, had already been endorsed by Imran Khan.
“It is also clarified that the reasons for not attending the meeting were explained in detail on Thursday, which need not be repeated here,” he said.
Rejecting media reports linking the opposition alliance’s non-participation to Aleema Khanum, the TTAP spokesman called such claims “unfortunate and baseless.” He said the reports were aimed at creating an impression of rifts between Imran Khan’s family and the opposition alliance, but insisted such attempts would fail.
“Our alliance is strong and will remain based on mutual respect,” he added.
