Lahore Qalandars players celebrate after taking the wicket of a Rawalpindi batter during their Pakistan Super League match.

Defending champions Lahore Qalandars claimed their third win of Pakistan Super League (PSL) 11 on Saturday, defeating Rawalpindi by 32 runs at the National Bank Stadium and knocking them out of the tournament.

Chasing 211, Rawalpindi were limited to 178/9 in their 20 overs, as the Qalandars’ bowlers delivered a strong performance to defend the target.

Rawalpindi had a shaky start as opener Shahzaib Khan was dismissed in the third over by skipper Shaheen Afridi.

Afridi struck again in the same over, removing captain Mohammad Rizwan for just nine runs, leaving Rawalpindi struggling at 17/2 in 2.3 overs.

Daryl Mitchell and Yasir Khan then stabilised the innings with a valuable partnership, taking the score past 50, with Yasir reaching his fourth PSL half-century.

However, Haris Rauf broke the stand by dismissing Mitchell for 11 and then removed Yasir for a brilliant 58 off 29 balls.

Sam Billings and Dian Forrester attempted to rebuild, but wickets continued to fall as Sikandar Raza, Usama Mir, and Daniel Sams kept striking regularly.

Despite the collapse, Saad Masood played a fighting knock, bringing up his maiden PSL half-century and helping the team cross 150.
